| | About Baybrook, the Brooklyn and Curtis Bay Coalition: The Brooklyn and Curtis Bay Coalition is a community development corporation established in the fall of 2000. Its mission is to stabilize and improve the communities of Brooklyn and Curtis Bay, which are geographically isolated from the rest of Baltimore City by the Patapsco River. The Coalition strives to unite community organizations of both neighborhoods to focus on long-range solutions to a number of challenges they share. Housing and economic development are primary concerns.
The Coalition is governed by a Board of Directors composed of representatives of businesses, community and faith-based organizations serving the needs of the two neighborhoods. In the first year of its existence, the Coalition was incorporated and designated as a nonprofit organization by the Internal Revenue Service. The BCBC has also built an extensive network of local, city, and state support to help it determine the needs and possible responses within the two neighborhoods.
