Masonville Cove Environmental Education Center Open The Masonville Cove Environmental Education Center is a state-of-the-art green building built as part of a large scale restoration of Masonville Cove, a formerly contaminated section of Baltimore's Harbor along the Patapsco River. Once complete, the Masonville Cove Grounds will be a public park with water access. The Masonville Cove Environmental Education Center is now open with exhibits for visitors, free family activities on weekends, and space for community meetings. Visit the Masonville Cove website for hours, directions, and activity information. Brooklyn is a Baltimore Main Street In 2008, Brooklyn became one of Baltimore's newest Main Streets. Main Streets provides techincal assistance and grants to help improve building facades and will help stregnthen Brooklyn and Curtis Bay's commercial corridor. Brooklyn and Curtis Bay Named Healthy Neighborhood Brooklyn and Curtis Bay have been selected to participate in the Healthy Neighborhoods program. Healthy Neighborhoods helps neighborhoods increase home values, market their communities, create high standards for property improvements, and forge strong connections among neighbors. Through Healthy Neighborhoods, homeowners will be able to apply for below market loans for home renovation. The program also provides grants for block improvement projects, housing counseling, and architectural advice. New homebuyers on target blocks will be eligible for below market rate loans.
